Google Merchant Center misrepresentation suspension: what to fix before you appeal.
A misrepresentation suspension usually means Google does not trust some part of the store, product data, business identity, or customer experience. Before requesting another review, slow down and clean up the signals that make the store look incomplete, inconsistent, or risky.
What “misrepresentation” usually points to
Misrepresentation is broad. In practice, ecommerce stores often run into trouble because Google cannot clearly verify who is selling, what is being sold, what the buyer can expect, or whether the shopping experience is complete and trustworthy.
That means the fix is rarely one sentence in an appeal. The fix is usually a cleanup pass across the website, Merchant Center, policies, product data, and business identity.
The pre-appeal checklist
Before requesting review, check the obvious trust and consistency signals first:
- Legal business name, address, phone, and email are visible and consistent.
- Shipping, return, refund, privacy, and contact pages are easy to find.
- Checkout works, the site uses HTTPS, and there are no broken or placeholder pages.
- Product titles, descriptions, images, prices, availability, and shipping claims match the feed.
- Product claims are realistic and do not overpromise results, certifications, or guarantees.
- Merchant Center identity verification is complete when requested.
Do not rush the appeal
If the same issues are still live when Google reviews the account, another denial can lead to more delay. The appeal should explain what was investigated, what was fixed, and why the store is now compliant. Keep it factual and specific.
